Abbotsford School District’s Bear Bus Rolls Into the Community

The Bear Bus is officially on the move! 

This past weekend, families and community members joined Abbotsford School District’s Early Learning Team at the Sweeney Early Years Centre for the grand opening of the Bear Bus, a new mobile early learning program bringing play, literacy, culture, wellness and connection directly to children and families across Abbotsford. 

The celebration offered the community a chance to explore the Bear Bus, connect with our Early Learning team and experience some of the fun and learning families can expect as the bus travels to parks, trails, community events and gathering places throughout Abbotsford.

Designed for children ages 0–6 and their caregivers, the Bear Bus is the StrongStart program on wheels. It creates welcoming opportunities for families to learn, play and connect together. Programming includes outdoor adventures and stories through weekly park visits, culturally rich programming in partnership with the Indigenous Centre, and appearances at community events and celebrations throughout the year.

Following a wonderful opening weekend enjoyed by many in our community, the Bear Bus has a busy fall ahead. Upcoming stops include Albert Dyck Memorial Park, the Abbotsford Artisan Flea Market, the Family PowWow, Pumpkins in the Park and more.
