Robert Bateman Timberwolves win AA football provincial title

40-38 – for an entire year that score haunted players on the Robert Bateman Timberwolves senior varsity football team. On Dec. 4, 2021, Bateman lost by that score in overtime to the Carson Graham Eagles in the coastal championship game. That crushing loss was all the returning players thought about.

For quarterback Nolan Watrin, he looked at the score every single day. Watrin taped 40-38 to the ceiling above his bed. A day didn’t go by where when he went to bed or woke up, opened his eyes and spotted that score.

Robert Bateman Secondary art students create holiday cards for Abbotsford seniors

A group of Grade 9 students at Abbotsford’s Robert Bateman Secondary are aiming to spread some holiday cheer to local seniors in care.

For the past three weeks, Visual Arts teacher Claire Apostolopoulos and her Art 9 class have been learning about lino cutting and block printing. Students will now be using those skills to create holiday cards to Abbotsford seniors at the Oxford Senior Care home on Sherwood Crescent.

New Board of Education Sworn In For 2022-26 Term (PHOTOS)

It was a full house at the official inauguration of the newly elected Abbotsford Board of Education on Tuesday night, as seven trustees were sworn in and affirmed for the new term. Three new trustees - Rupi Kanda-Rajwan, Mike Rauch and Jared White - join incumbents Korky Neufeld, Stan Petersen, Preet Rai and Shirley Wilson. The Abbotsford Board of Education will serve from 2022 to 2026.

Accessible playground opens at École Centennial Park Elementary

It’s an exciting time for the École Centennial Park Elementary school community as their newly built accessible playground opened for students earlier this month. Funded through the Ministry of Education and Child Care's Playground Equipment Program (PEP), the school district's Facilities Department was able to purchase and install new playground equipment universal in design and in compliance with accessibility measures set through the Canadian Standards Association for Children's Playspaces and Equipment.

Abbotsford Educators recipients of the 2022 Premier’s Awards

The Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education recognizes exceptional teachers, support staff and administrators throughout the province. In a ceremony at Government House in mid-October, Premier John Horgan provided awards to winners of the Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education, and celebrated the finalists from the 2022 awards program.
