As we approach the start of the new school year on September 3rd, the Abbotsford School District is excited to welcome over 20,000 students and nearly 3,000 dedicated staff members back to our schools.

Abbotsford School District's Summer School Programs Inspire Students and Staff

This summer, the Abbotsford School District's Summer School Programs provided a dynamic and enriching experience for students, staff, and families alike. From July 2nd to July 26th, our secondary and elementary programs were alive with the energy of hands-on learning, creativity, and community building.

The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce Kristi Ferguson's appointment as the new Senior Manager of Communications and Community Relations, effective July 8, 2024. Kristi brings an extensive background in fundraising communications, particularly within the healthcare and community non-profit sectors, making her a valuable addition to our team.

In a continued commitment to supporting the educational success and cultural identity of Indigenous students, the Abbotsford School District has signed the 2025-2030 Enhancement Agreement for Indigenous Students. The signing took place during a luncheon event on June 17, 2024, attended by representatives from the Semáth First Nation, Mathxwí First Nation, Fraser Valley Métis Association, the Abbotsford Board of Education, and district leaders, staff, and students.

As summer break approaches, Minister Rachna Singh, Ministry of Education and Child Care, expresses her gratitude to everyone in the education system for their hard work and the milestones they have reached during the 2023-2024 school year.

The Abbotsford School District is proud to announce Starfish Packs as the 2024 Community Matters Award recipient, presented at the June 18th Public Board Meeting. This award recognizes Starfish Packs for their exceptional contributions to our community and students.

William A. Fraser Middle School is proud to announce the release of the “Connections Matter” Community Video Project. The project was led by Mr. Leeman’s Grade 8 class and supported by the Falcon Equity League, which includes Grade 6, 7, and 8 students. The project reveal saw an impressive turnout, with many guests attending the school's reveal event on June 12, 2024.

The Abbotsford School District proudly celebrated its 2024 retirees with a memorable retirement dinner on June 5, 2024, at the Clarion Hotel. This special event celebrated the outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication of those retiring from education leadership, operations management, administration, teaching, and support staff roles.
